Ottawa is very fortunate to have a great comedy scene. We have two full time comedy clubs, where I often drop in for a quick "spot". Also, just about every night of the week, there is an "open mic" or "Pro Am" show happening at some small venue somewhere. I sometimes pop in at these for a spot or even a short headline set. I call these"talking practice", because they are great for working out new material and, thanks to Covid lockdowns, remembering old material! The lineups on these shows vary. Usually, there is a decent mix of pros and amatuers, and generally these are PWYC, low or "No cover". Of course, you get what you pay for, but I am consistently impressed with the level of comedic talent we have in Ottawa.
